You've heard of Botox - but what are Dermal Fillers?

The major difference between Botox and Dermal Fillers is that Botox focuses on immobilizing or relaxing the facial muscles to relieve wrinkles, whereas injectable Fillers focus on tissue filling to treat the age lines.  Dermal fillers are composed of either a synthetic or natural product.

Dermal fillers can temporarily smooth out such unwanted facial features such as smile or frown lines, acne marks, worry lines, forehead furrows, lipstick lines, and prominent nose to mouth lines. This quick and easy procedure can also subtly change the bridge of the nose, give body to gaunt cheeks, and turn lips from thin to full and pouting.

As our bodies get older, so our skin produces less collagen and the dermis becomes thinner – both of which contribute to the visible ageing process. Of course, a dermal filler is not a miracle cure for ageing, nor does it claim to be, but it does temporarily counter visible ageing signs by regenerating the skin with renewed elasticity and strength. As such, a dermal filler is an excellent short-term solution to visible ageing as it boosts both thinning skin and diminishing natural collagen: it subtly engorges the area of skin directly surrounding the point where it is injected.

When you consider how much cheaper a dermal filler procedure is when compared with the cost of cosmetic surgery, and how effective the results can be, it’s no surprise that so many people choose this route. So if you’re fed up with wrinkles, frown lines, acne scars, crow’s feet, or any other visible sign of facial ageing, dermal fillers may be the right course of action for you. And if, for whatever reason, you’re not happy with the results, remember that the effects are only temporary, and will naturally break down over time.

At Skincredible we only use Juvederm fillers, due to their excellent track record and longevity. For more information about dermal fillers, please visit http://www.skincredible.co.uk.
